BEWARE.."Creepy Fake Genealogy Site" MyFamilyTree

These day's if it ain't one thing it's the next. I first found out about this fake Genealogy web site from a Rootsweb list I subscribe to,it wasn't a promotion for the site, but a warning.

After looking into this site, I found nothing that had anything good to say about it.

"The website FamilyTreeNow presents itself as an alternative to genealogy websites such as Ancestry and FamilySearch. It claims to have “one of the largest collections of genealogy records anywhere.” Some old-timey photos adorning the site give the impression that it can help you discover family from long ago. Lastly, the account sign-up page says, “Seriously everything is free, no catch.” But the entire website is the catch.

Genealogy sites will provide old records that have been scanned in so that you may find relatives. Birth records, marriage records, newspaper clippings; none of these are present on this site. Despite its trappings as a genealogy site, it is in fact a "people search engine" best-suited for stalkers, blackmailers, and hackers. As young adult fiction author Anna Brittain wrote, the site is an internet safety hazard."

FamilyTreeNow reviews

The good news is you can opt out of this site. My advise is to do just that, and please don't forget your kin. To opt out go here: Opt out FamilyTreeNow

My advice to the owner of this site, the cretin Dustin Richard Weirich, get a life and hire a good lawyer.

That's my 2 cents....

That site is creepy. Thanks to Don, I removed everyone in my family from it and it had names associated with myself and some family members I didn't even know, nor had ever heard of before. Everyone please check and opt out!! Thanks for the warning, Don.

They had my deceased Daddy on there with none of his children, including me, but had him associated with all my brother's step children, which was NOT good. Mama was livid and ready for some Mountain Justice at 87 years old. Who knows where that moron got all that junk? We need to check back later to make sure those records are removed.
