Map of Morgan & Johnson Counties Kentucky 1880

I love old maps, and I just came across a good one. I've recently been working on a project that concerns old maps, maps of Hawkins , Grainger , and Claiborne Counties of East Tennessee.

While researching this project, I was lucky enough to have stumbled across an old map.It was a reprint of a map from the Library of Congress for sale on Esty:

Morgan and Johnson Counties Kentucky 1880x - Wall Map with Homeowner Names - Reprint

I have an interest in this map as my Collins line were in both Morgan and Johnson Counties when they were formed from Old Floyd County (Morgan Co. 1822, Johnson Co. 1843). My direct line left Johnson County in the mid 1920's and migrated to Lewis County, Kentucky, to get away from the coal mines, and get back to farming.

This map is available for download from the Library of Congress, in a few different graphic formats (TIFF, GIF and JPEG). Can be found here: Map of Morgan and Johnson counties and parts of Magofin, Floyd and Martin

Notes
 -  Shows names of some residents.
 -  LC Land ownership maps, 240
 -  Available also through the Library of Congress Web site as a raster image.

This map does not show all residents, but it does show many and is accurate. A good tool for researchers who can trace their kindred to Johnson and Morgan Counties, Kentucky.
